Travel Skincare

I’ll be traveling throughout Australia for the next two weeks, and wherever I go, my skincare comes. Although I wish I could bring my entire bathroom cabinet with me, TSA would never allow that so I unfortunately have to limit myself to a certain routine that not only does the job, but doesn’t take up too much room.

  1. Tula Purifying Cleanser: I’ve been using this cleanser for the past three weeks, and it’s officially my go-to morning cleanser. It’s gel-based, deep cleans your pores, and leaves your skin moisturized vs. strips it of moisture like most cleansers do. (Side note: I’m really loving this brand as all of their products contain probiotics which is MAJOR.) The tube is huge and will last you months, but for traveling I like to deposit some into smaller travel tubes (such as these).

  2. KIEHL’S Midnight Recovery Eye Cream: Eye cream is KEY to help fight fine lines and prevent concealer creasing. I typically only use this specific eye cream at night, but when traveling I only bring one eye cream to save room, and this one does the job for both day + night. If you’re a skin care guru like moi, then you’ve probably heard reviews about how well this eye cream works, and I am here to confirm that the reviews are true - it works magic for under bags and fine lines! (I’ll be doing a full skincare routine soon and will be listing the daytime eye creams I use regularly.)

  3. Mad Hippie Vitamin C Serum: I usually use the Sunday Riley CEO Vitamin C Serum (seriously obsessed with how damn smooth it leaves your skin, and how much it evens out and brightens your complexion), however I don’t like traveling with it because it is $$$ and God forbid I lose it or it gets stolen, I’d be hella mad. I’ve heard AMAZING things about this Mad Hippie Serum for awhile now, and decided to buy it a few weeks ago and so far I LOVE IT! It’s more of an oil and doesn’t leave your skin as smooth as the SR CEO, but it really does brighten it up and makes you look more “alive”. Besides Vitamin C, it also contains Konjac Root, Hyaluronic Acid, and Ferulic Acid so the benefits are great.

  4. OleHenriksen Glow Cycle Retin-ALT Power Serum: Obsession is an understatement of how I truly feel about this serum. Been using it for over a month now, and it’s INCREDIBLE (OleHenriksen is one of my all time favorite brands - he really knows what he’s doing when it comes to skincare). I’ve mentioned before in my ‘5 Masks You Absolutely Need’ post how important AHA’s are for your skin. AHA’s are a chemical exfoliant which will resurface and transform your skin overtime. This serum recently launched and I am so impressed with it as I already see a difference in my skin in just one month (lightened dark spots, even texture, and smaller pores). They also have the Glow Cycle Retin-ALT Sleeping Creme which is for nighttime and when I get back to the states, I’m definitely purchasing it - I’m ready for ya perfect skin!

  5. TULA Hydrating Day and Night Cream: For me, it’s been so hard to find a moisturizer I actually love mainly because a majority of them leave my skin sticky and/or not hydrated enough. This TULA one is perfect for my skin as it is BEYONDDDDD hydrating, but isn’t heavy and doesn’t leave a sticky residue.

  6. bareMinerals Complexion Rescue Defense Radiant Protective Veil: If you follow me on Instagram (if you don’t, you totally should), you probably remember my post on this product about a month ago, and yes it was sponsored HOWEVER, I still use it as I’ve fallen in deep, deep love with it.

*For the record, I refuse to promote any product that 1. does not fit my lifestyle 2. I don’t actually use/like 3. I wouldn’t actually purchase with my own money. I accept about 25% of brand sponsorships I’m offered.

Before testing this product out, I honestly had no idea blue light from our phones and computers did so much damage to our skin, and since I work from both 24/7 and this product blocks that light, I now wear this DAILY. It also has SPF in it which is a huge plus for me (hello, anti-aging!). The texture is light and the finish is radiant which leaves your skin with that natural glow-from-within. I use this every single day under make-up, and alone on those days I’m not wearing any makeup.

  7. Charlotte Tilbury Wonderglow Face Primer: I received this primer right before my trip and decided to bring it along. I am so happy I did because it is BOMB. It has anti-aging properties (yaaaas) and a dewy finish, so it’s perfect for underneath makeup as it glistens through and leaves you looking *effortlessly* flawless.

  1. Pond’s Cold Cream: Cold creams are the best way to take off your make-up as they’re more gentle and hydrating on your skin. I’ve been using cold creams as a make-up remover for two years and I find that not only is it quicker, but it takes everything (and I mean EVERYTHING) completely off.

  2. Neutrogena Makeup Removing Wipes: These wipes are my all time favorite. I use them to take off eye-makeup and to wipe off the cold cream (you can use a washcloth, but I personally don’t like staining my towels so I use these wipes instead). Btw, I don’t use these by themselves as I find makeup removing wipes alone don’t take off everything, not to mention they’re too abrasive for our skin.

  3. Neutrogena Naturals Face Wash: When I’m too tired (AKA too lazy) to take my make-up off with the above, I take it off with this cleanser while showering. It’s gentle and removes every single trace of make-up.

  4. Follain Indie Lee Toner: Listen up - if you don’t use a toner, you need to step your game up as of yesterday. Toner is easily the most important step in a skincare routine. Not only does it remove any excess make-up that a remover doesn’t take off, but it also rebalances out your skin’s pH back to 5.5 (v important!). I’ve been using this one from Follain for the past 2 weeks and LOVEEEE everything about it. (They offer 10% off + Free Shipping on your first order just an FYI).

  5. KIEHL’S Midnight Recovery Eye Cream: Again, I only bring one eye cream when traveling and this is my nighttime eye cream I use on a regular basis.

  6. Charlotte’s Magic Cream: I have heard only great things about this magic cream for the longest time and it’s been sitting in my Sephora Loves for way too long. Luckily, I was sent a bunch of Charlotte Tilbury products before purchasing and this was surprisingly in the box! I can’t tell you how ecstatic I was when I saw it. I absolutely love the texture - it’s rich, but not too thick nor sticky. It absorbs perfectly into your skin and has hyaluronic acid, (necessary for bringing moisture back into your skin), rosehip + camellia + vitamin E oils, AND SPF15! Although I’ve only been using this for a week now, I can honestly say I wake up with my face looking more hydrated and plump! It’s pricey AF but I really do think it’s worth it if you suffer from dry skin and/or are looking for an anti-aging product.

  7. CBD Oil: If you haven’t already heard, CBD Oil is all the rage right now. For starters, it is non-psychoactive therefore it does not get you high so don’t freak. CBD Oil does wonders for your skin as it helps boost collagen, helps elasticity, fights acne, evens out your skin tone, and gives you glowy ass skin. I’ve been using this one from Leef since June and it’s the best oil my skin has used at night. I used to apply it before moisturizer, but after hearing Lauryn Evarts’s (AKA the Skinny Confidential AKA the Queen) podcast with Dr. Dennis Gross and how he mentioned to apply oils after moisturizer as it should be the last step, I switched my application process and it’s been working wonderfully.

  8. Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask: If you have dry, chapped or cracked lips, you NEED this. I swear you will wake up with new lips in the morning. I use this every single night (and guilty of using this during the day too as I’m seriously obsessed with it) and my lips have never been smoother in their entire life. It comes with the cutest application spatula + pouch and it’s not sticky whatsoever, which is a deal breaker for me.

MASKS

There are 2 types of masks I bring with me on every trip - sheet masks and a clay mask.

Sheet Mask - I usually buy these Sephora sheet masks (my favorites are the Rose, Pearl and Avocado) but Trader Joe’s just released a Rich, Hydrating Sheet Mask and you know I had to buy 8 for my trip (btw, they’re just as good. A little too strong smelling but still good!). I use these on the plane (read my ‘Travel Necessities’ post to see why I love looking like Jason from Halloween) as a 20 hour flight DESTROYS your skin and I was defintely not going to let that happen to mine. I like to use them near the end of the flight and again before bed the same or next day.

Clay Mask - This Detox Mask from OleHenriksen is my absolute favorite. It’s a clay mask but also hydrates at the same time (I wrote a more thorough review on my ‘5 Masks You Absolutely Need’ post).

I know you’re probably thinking “WTF this is way too many products to take on a trip this b*tch is cray”, but it’s honestly nothing compared to my usual routine LOL. Also, a lot of these bottles are little so they fit perfectly in my travel toiletry bag. If you have any questions at all about these products or which products to use for your specific skin type, don’t hesitate to let me know! Up next, my AM + PM day-to-day skincare routine!
